* Weather. The Temperature highs will be in the high 40's on Friday & Saturday, rising to nearly 60 on Sunday. The temperature lows will be in the mid 30's on Friday & Saturday, rising to the mid 40's on Sunday. Rain is in the forecast for Friday, likely between 10 am - 9 pm, but the total rainfall will only be about a quarter inch. It will be cloudy on Saturday only. Winds will be 10 - 15 mph all weekend. The exhibit hours are Thursday & Friday from 2 - 7 pm and Saturday from 12 noon - 5 pm. The exhibit runs through April 2020. Free - www.statenislandarts.org.

* The Snug Harbor Cultural Center at 1000 Richmond Terrace in the Randall Manor neighborhood on the north shore of Staten Island. There are several cultural institutions operating in the complex including the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, the SI Botanical Garden and the SI Museum. * The National Lighthouse Museum hosts numerous events and has an evolving repository of maritime artifacts and a growing roster of cultural events. The photo at right shows the Statue of Liberty in the distance while riding the Staten Island Ferry to the St. George terminal. Many of Staten Island's cultural destinations lie in the neighborhoods between the Ferry Terminal and Fort Wadsworth / the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge, and adjacent neighborhoods just west of there. This is reachable via public transit, but it takes a bit longer than subway rides.

The doors open at 6.30 am and the event begins at 7 am, with the prediction announcement at 7.30 am. Ground Hog day posits that if the ground hog sees his shadow, then spring is six more weeks away [as usual].
