SEPTEMBER marks the beginning of the new school year and the summer unofficially ends on the Labor Day Weekend. In addition to Labor Day, September is the month of Oktoberfest, 911, the official start of Autumn and the Jewish New Year.
September is an events filled month for Staten Island, including the Historic Richmond Town's Richmond County Fair, there's the Pig Island Festival at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, the 1776 Peace Conference Celebration at the Conference House in Tottenville, the Colamena Mexican Independence Parade, the Fig Festival at the National Lighthouse Museum, the Neptune Ball at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, the Westerleigh Folk Music and Art Festival at Westerleigh Park and the Rolling Thunder Oktoberfest celebration at William H. Pouch Camp.
Staten Island is also the host of numerous concerts, theater and film events, as well as great food, parks and fairly good public transit.
The September photo featured above was taken at the Richmond County Fair this year [2024], which offered rides, food, shopping and history. Enjoy.
