While generally Staten Island Street Fairs begin in April, this year we're going a bit deeper in the Winter quarter [January through March 2024], to identify some of the year round markets, which while not exactly street fairs, contain some of the elements of the street fair experience including an eclectic offering of merchandise and food items.

  • * Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 7 to 11 pm - Freedom Ball at LiGreci's Staaten at 697 Forest Avenue on Staten Island. A colonial dress event [18th century Victorian garb] celebrating African American history. The event includes a three course dinner, dancing and live performance. Tickets are $1200 for a table or $150 for an individual. The proceeds go toward the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Parade in Tappen Park in June 2024 on Staten Island. MARCH 2024 - Staten Island Street Fairs, Festivals & Parades SI NYC

  • * Sunday, March 3, 2024 the 59/60th Annual Staten Island St. Pat's Parade begins between 11.30 am / 12.30 pm [after a church service at Blessed Sacrament in West Brighton]. They begin at Harts Blvd marching along Forest Avenue in the Westerleigh / Elm Park neighborhoods to Jewett Avenue, in the West New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island. The parade lasts about one to two hours, but the celebrating continues after the parade. Staten Island street fairs / parades in the New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island. Members of the LGBTQ community continue to be banned from openly marching in the parade. The parade is organized by the Richmond County St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and not the Ancient Order of Hiberians.

  • * Sunday, March 17, 2024 the 1st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade from 11 am to 3 pm. It is organized by the Forest Avenue BID in a response to the ongoing boycott of gay marchers by the traditional Staten Island St. Pat's Day parade organizers [see above]. Since the controversy, attendance at the traditional parade fell off significantly, which has hurt the businesses along Forest Avenue and diminished the sense of unity within the community.     • OLD _ NOTE DATE / YEAR _ Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11 am - 3 pm, starting at Jodys Club at 372 Forest Avenue there's the first Crawl for All St Patricks Day weekend bar crawl. The event is being organized by folks associated with the Pride Center of Staten Island who would like the St Patricks Day parade on Staten Island, to join all other St Patricks Day parades in NYC, by eliminating the discriminatory practice of forbidding people who are both members of Irish and LGBTQ communities, from participating in the parade. Inclusivity rather than exclusivity. Because the Staten Island St Pat's Day Parade continues to lose both audience and participation, the organizers wanted to mitigate some of the St Pat's Parade business losses by local businesses, by organizing the Crawl for All.   • * Saturday, March 30, 2024 beginning at 10 am and 1 pm, there's Easter at the Mount [Loretto] at 6541 Hylan Blvd in the Charleston neighborbood of Staten Island. Mount Loretto is hosting a couple of Easter Brunches, Egg Hunts & Events which they describe as follows, " ... Enjoy buffet breakfast, music and dancing, then take a professional photo with the Easter Bunny that you can take home. The bike ride begins at Whitehall Ferry Terminal at the southeastern tip of Manhattan and ends at URBY, an apartment complex at 8 Navy Pier Court along the waterfront in Stapleton.   • * Travis Town _ Thursday, July 4th, 2024 beginning at 11.30 am - Travis Independence Day Parade and celebration that harks back to a simpler time. The roads close at 11.30 am. The parade route is triangular - from Showplace Center, marches west on Victory Blvd to Glen Street. This is a police escorted memorial run to raise funds for D.A.V. and local veterans. The after party will include music, food and beverages with rides to the kids. At the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden at 1000 Richmond Terrace in the Randall Manor neighborhood of Staten Island. This is a long-running tradition featuring 140 artists who sell their creations on the Snug Harbor lawn. This year they've added a biergarten, where you can pay $25 for a couple of brews, a German pretzel and and homebrew club tastings.

  • Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 8 am - 5 pm - The NYC Marathon runners begin congregating at Fort Wadsworth at the foot of the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge on Staten Island beginning at 7 am. The Professional Wheelchairs take off at 8 am, the Handcyclists at 8.22 am, the Professional Women at 8.40 am, and the Professional Men at 9.05 am, with the last wave at 11.40 am. Staten Island is the starting poinit, while Brooklyn is the first leg, the Queens segment of the course is around the midpoint before heading into Manhattan, then north to the Bronx over the Willis Avenue Bridge, where they do a U turn by heading west over the Madison Avenue Bridge before turning south into Manhattan and Central Park. Use the link to the front page below to view a map of the Marathon course for 2022.
    • So you can do some math to figure out when to greet them in your borough. The fastest men complete the race in a bit more than two hours, while the average is 4 hours and 40 minutes. The midpoint is in Queens. The biggest wave of runners travel through Queens around 11 am, so you can figure out the rest. The weather is expected to be pleasant. Enjoy.

They describe the event as follows, " ... The 2 day event is the celebration of African Culture and showcases African music, fine arts, literature, drama, dance, and fashion ...". While this is primarily a cultural festival, there will also be opportunities to purchase African food, clothing and art. Entrance Free.   • DISCONTINUED _ Didn't return in 2020, 2021, 2022 _ Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 10 am - 5 pm - Civil War at Historic Richmond Town - There's a historic group, Liberty Rifles, that does some historic re-enactment / dialogue of soldier life w/o the firing of the rifles. The museum, as well as about a dozen other buildings dating back from the Civil War back to Colonial times are open for viewing. There's also a gift shop and restaurant on site that will be open. Admission $8 / $6 / $5 kids. This isn't really a street fair in historic Richmond Town so much as a celebration of Staten Island and American history.

MARCH 2024 - Staten Island Street Fairs, Festivals & Parades SI NYC

  • * Sunday, March 3, 2024 the 59/60th Annual Staten Island St. Pat's Parade begins between 11.30 am / 12.30 pm [after a church service at Blessed Sacrament in West Brighton]. They begin at Harts Blvd marching along Forest Avenue in the Westerleigh / Elm Park neighborhoods to Jewett Avenue, in the West New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island. The parade lasts about one to two hours, but the celebrating continues after the parade. Staten Island street fairs / parades in the New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island. Members of the LGBTQ community continue to be banned from openly marching in the parade. The parade is organized by the Richmond County St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and not the Ancient Order of Hiberians.

It is organized by the Forest Avenue BID in a response to the ongoing boycott of gay marchers by the traditional Staten Island St. Pat's Day parade organizers [see above]. Since the controversy, attendance at the traditional parade fell off significantly, which has hurt the businesses along Forest Avenue and diminished the sense of unity within the community.     • OLD _ NOTE DATE / YEAR _ Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11 am - 3 pm, starting at Jodys Club at 372 Forest Avenue there's the first Crawl for All St Patricks Day weekend bar crawl. The event is being organized by folks associated with the Pride Center of Staten Island who would like the St Patricks Day parade on Staten Island, to join all other St Patricks Day parades in NYC, by eliminating the discriminatory practice of forbidding people who are both members of Irish and LGBTQ communities, from participating in the parade. Inclusivity rather than exclusivity. Because the Staten Island St Pat's Day Parade continues to lose both audience and participation, the organizers wanted to mitigate some of the St Pat's Parade business losses by local businesses, by organizing the Crawl for All.   • * Saturday, March 30, 2024 beginning at 10 am and 1 pm, there's Easter at the Mount [Loretto] at 6541 Hylan Blvd in the Charleston neighborbood of Staten Island. Mount Loretto is hosting a couple of Easter Brunches, Egg Hunts & Events which they describe as follows, " ... Enjoy buffet breakfast, music and dancing, then take a professional photo with the Easter Bunny that you can take home. Grab your Easter Basket and hunt in the island’s largest Easter Egg Patch loaded with more than 4,000 eggs plus 10 Golden Eggs filled with special prizes. Two seatings to choose from ...". SI Pridefest runs events thru most of May & June. Friday, May 17 from 6 to 8 pm they're hosting an Art Fair where art is being sold by artists at the Empire Outlets Mall in St. George [free entry]. On Saturday, June 1 from 12 noon to 5 pm they're hosting a Pride Fest including food, vendors, arts, crafts and entertainment at Snug Harbor Cultural Center in Randall Manor [free entry]. And on Thursday, June 20 from 6.30 to 9.30 pm they're hosting the 9th Annual Winestock at Stone House at Clove Lakes [$86 for wine tastings, food & fundraiser].   • DISCONTINUED _ 2023 Update _ There hasn't been one of these for a while _ but they have kept up a Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/statenirelandfair1/ _ [NO IRISH FAIR IN 2020, 2021 or 2022] Saturday & Sunday, June 9 & 10, 2018 from 12 noon to 8 pm there's the 20th Annual Irish Fair & Music Festival on Mount Loretto at 6581 Hylan Blvd in the Charleston neighborhood of Staten Island [near Prince's Bay & Pleasant Plains]. Organized by The Columcille Cultural Center of Livingston. $15 per adult and kids under age 12 are free. July Street Fairs on Staten Island NYC 2023

 

  • Saturday & Sunday, July 1 & 2, 2023 from 10 am - 4 pm - Independence Day Festival at Historic Richmond Town. At Historic Richmond Town at 441 Clarke Avenue. There's science behind the fireworks, Staten Island Sea stories, a Medicine Man Show, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, talk on slavery and some craft beer and food trucks. The following will also be open in the town of living history -  Carpenter's Shop, Tin Shop, Stephen's Black House, Broom Making - Kruser-Finley House, Basket Maker's House, Pie Baking - Guyon-Lake-Tysen House, Guyon Tavern, Native Encampment and Tableaux Vivants in the Historical Museum.   • Tuesday, July 4th, 2023 beginning at 11.30 am - Travis Independence Day Parade. The roads close at 11.30 am. The ceremonies begin at 12 noon at Independence Park. The parade starts at 12.30 pm from Showplace Center, marches west on Victory Blvd to Glen Street. Then to Cannon Avenue, before heading south to Victory Blvd ending at 141 East Service Road at the Showplace Center. 4th of July parades on Staten Island.
  • On Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 6 to 10 pm, Maker Park Radio celebrates its 6th Annual Music & Art Fest at 450 Front Street in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island NYC.   • Sunday, June 6, 2021 - from 11 am - 1 pm - Victory Blvd Merchants Association Restaurant Stroll - Participating restaurants along Victory Blvd between Jewett Avenue and Manor Road are offering a taste of their wares [in 2019 it was for $15 per taste]. The epicenter is at Westcott Blvd and the event includes food, shopping & entertainment. Tickets are available at eventbrite or at Alfonso's Pastry Shop. There's a pinwheel parade, colonial style cooking, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, a talk on railways and some craft beer and food trucks.   • Friday, July 16, 2021 - 116th Annual Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The mass will be held at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Rosebank at 11 am and in the evening there will be simple food available in the grotto field for a donation.
  • In 2019 there was the 116th festival which included food, entertainment, shopping and rides. In 2019 it started with a 9 am parade that preceded the opening mass and a four day festival from Thursday through Sunday that ran from 10 - 6 pm and later. In 2020 it was cancelled because of the pandemic, and this year it's slimmed down. Staten Island street fairs / festivals in Rosebank. Tel 347.204.5203.
