"romantic comedy you've been waiting for. The pandemic may have hit our community hard, but we're determined to bring everyone back together with the opportunity to laugh at ourselves and our neighbors. In this original musical comedy written and created by native Staten Islanders Matt Izzo and Sal Volpe,
borough residents burst into song and dance as they explore well-known locations across Richmond County where they may encounter a romance on the ferry or a betrayal at the mall. Are dancing turkeys, spot-saving traffic cones, and some charismatic mall walkers enough to keep our characters in this beloved borough, or is it time for them to cross the bridge to a new terrain known as New Jersey?"
Paid summer theater in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island.
  • Tickets are $20 / $25 / $35 at www.brownpapertickets.com of through the Lighthouse Museum.

  • Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 5 pm - Twelfth Night - performed by the Hip to Hip Theatre Company of Woodside, Queens. This Shakespearean play is a romantic comedy about a love triangle that develops after a shipwrecked woman finds work for a Count. The woman, Viola, dresses as a man to get the job, and finds herself attracted to her boss, while thwarting interest from his desired love. To be sure there's a myriad of other characters and twists and turns in the plot to keep the audience paying attention as the old bard theatrically explores the vagaries of love.

Free Summer Outdoor Theater at Maker Park in Stapleton on SI

Maker Park at the Corner of Front & Thompson Streets in Stapleton Staten Island

  • Friday, Saturday July 16 & 17, 2021 and Friday July 23 & Sunday, July 25, 2021 at 8 pm except Sunday at 7 pm. The Staten Island Shakespeare Company performs Waiting for Lefty. Waiting for Lefty is a string of seven fairly short vignettes about cabbies contemplating a strike in 1935 when the play was first produced. Essentially it's a play about class warfare, how the rich divide the less fortunate, negatively label those who want fair pay ['Commies and Reds'], and pay the rest peanuts. Could be both interesting from an historical point of view and very topical.
