Summer has begun. A number of community groups in collaboration with the NYC Parks Department and frequently with some measure of various levels of government funding, have put together a summer full of films and free summer concerts in the parks. The free concerts listed below are designed for young and old alike and they're FREE.

• Saturday & Sunday, August 6 & 7, 2022 beginning at 11 am both days, running until 7 pm Saturday and until 8 pm on Sunday - The Dance Festival. Many different classes ranging from one to two hours by various instructors, many of whom are local. Free / Pay What You Will.

August 17, 24 & 31, 2023 from 7 to 9 pm - WSIA FM Radio of College of Staten Island & Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Summer Concerts. Free summer outdoor concerts in the Dongan Hills, Midland Beach and Arrochar neighborhoods of Staten Island.

Location. The concerts are at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex at 625 Father Capodanno Blvd which is near Dongan Hills, Midland Beach and Arrochar neighborhoods. • Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 5 - 6 pm Carnegie Hall Citywide Concerts Presents Empire Wild. Historic Richmond Town Country Fair on Staten Island 2023

• Saturday, Sunday & Monday, September 2, 3 & 4, 2023 from 12 noon - 8 pm - Richmond County Fair. Historic Richmond Town describes this event as follows, "... Staten Island’s annual community celebration and Historic Richmond Town’s biggest fundraiser. For 43 years, Historic Richmond Town has hosted the Richmond County Fair, and we are honored to welcome everyone to enjoy the best of Staten Island. Also, it is our most important fundraiser of the year, and your ticket to the Richmond County Fair directly supports Historic Richmond Town in its mission to preserve and share our local history...". This is Historic Richmond Town's Annual Fundraiser and Biggest Event of the Year on Staten Island.

• Location. The concerts are generally held at or near 441 Clarke Avenue in Historic Richmond Town on Staten Island. Historic Richmond Town is a well preserved mid 19th century historic town nestled near the hills of Staten Island. While there's no theater, per se, they do host the Uncorked Food Festival in early June and their biggest event of the year is the Historic Richmond Town County Fair held in very early September.

Historic Richmond Town Tavern Terrace Concerts - Appear Discontinued after Summer 2021

• August 17, 24 & 31, 2023 from 7 to 9 pm - College of Staten Island & Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Summer Concerts. Free summer outdoor concerts in the Dongan Hills, Midland Beach and Arrochar neighborhoods of Staten Island.

• Location. The concerts are at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex which is near Dongan Hills, Midland Beach and Arrochar neighborhoods [see #2 above Eastern Staten Island]. The College of Staten Island aka CSI is located at 2800 Victory Blvd near Heartland Village in the Mid Island section of Staten Island.

DEA Music and Art School [not free] has three locations on Staten Island - 57 Page Avenue near Tottenville in the south, 19 St Mary's Avenue in the northern section and 1409 Richmond Avenue in the north west section.

They offer summer classes, but I don't see any public performances at this time. Check back later in the summer of 2023.
